5 reasons why safety shoes are required

Why should we use safety shoes

Anyone who has worked in an industry where on-the-job injuries can occur due to shoe punctures, pinching, or impact understands the value of dependable safety shoes. Safety shoes come in many styles, making them appropriate for a wide range of work environments, including construction sites, airports, heavy industry, logistics, and transportation... We've compiled a list of 5 reasons why we think you should wear safety shoes.

We have prepared five reasons why we recommend you use safety shoes.

  1. Protection from falling objects

When working in a crowded and fast-paced environment, it is critical that workers not only wear protective clothing but also have their feet protected from potential crush injuries. Moving and lifting heavy objects, such as in an airport, carries the risk of items falling on workers' feet. Workers can be kept safe by wearing safety shoes with reinforced toes. And the capped safety shoes reliably protect against shocks and impacts of up to 200 joules of energy. There are several different safety caps available, from steel to composite, the latter being the case with the i-Cyber model of high safety shoes.

  2. Reduces the risk of falls and slips

Trips, slips, and falls can occur in any workplace, mainly when safety shoes are not part of the uniform. Safety shoes that fit correctly will aid in balance and comfort, preventing trips and slips.

Shoes must also have adequate traction and tread, mainly when working on ladders in the construction industry or on uneven surfaces.

  3. Improves posture and avoids muscle strain

Safety shoes can prevent muscle strain and protect workers from unintentional falls or crush injuries. The foot and ankle will be effectively supported if the shoes are sufficiently cushioned and support the foot arch. This will result in a comfortable shoe that correctly aligns the leg, improves posture, and lessens back pain.

  4. Protection from the weather elements

When employees work outside in all weather conditions, such as in the construction, logistics, and airport industries, their shoes must protect them from rain, snow, and extreme cold. Shoes should be well-insulated and waterproof to help prevent frostbite and other circulatory problems.

  5. Helps protect against electric shocks

Even though there are health and safety precautions, employees must wear the appropriate safety shoes because electricity is a significant risk element in many jobs. To reduce the risk of an electric shock, these must be constructed of non-conductive materials like leather or rubber. Anti-static shoes are also recommended if your employees work in an environment where a build-up of static electricity is likely (ESD – electrostatic discharge).

Always check to see if your employees are wearing the proper safety footwear. So doing will keep employees safe, happy and comfortable.
